Blackwater Car Park is a great location to picnic and walk by the ginormous redwoods and Douglas fir trees of Rhinefield Ornamental Drive. With a picnic area, Arboretum and Tall Trees Trail along with an ice cream van. What more could you want? Just be careful not to crick your neck! There are some mighty tall trees in Rhinefield, the giants of the New Forest.
The Blackwater Tall Trees Trail
The Tall Trees Trail is a 1.5 mile, way marked loop. A gentle, gravel path winding in and among the giant conifers. A chance to see up close the giant trees including England’s tallest sequoia.
You can start and finish the aptly named “Tall Trees Trail at either of the two car parks in Rhinefield Ornamental Drive; Brock Hill and Blackwater.
Blackwater Arboretum Sensory Trail
Another walk accessible from Blackwater car park is the Blackwater Arboretum. About half a mile from the car park the Sensory Trail encourages walkers to use all their senses to gain an even better connection with the wonderful flora in the Forest.
